Snowflake Challenge #4 and 5

soricelChallenge #4: Rec The Contents Of Your Last Page
Any website that you like, be it fanfiction, art, social media, or something a bit more eccentric!
1.) I've come to really love Librivox, an archive of volunteer-made recordings of books in the Public Domain. Some people may be put off by the inconsistency of the reading quality, but I find the labor-of-loveness of the whole project really sweet...and there are some great recordings on there!
2.) I've enjoyed listening to the Fanfic Writers' Craft podcast, though it seems to be on a hiatus? It's a little HP-centric, and sometimes the hosts' takes are a little hot, but mostly I've found the show pretty thoughtful and helpful.
2.) I've found some good 1x1 RP partners on Barbermonger. Most of the ads tend to be from people looking for some degree of romance in their RPs, which isn't really my thing, but maybe it's yours! I haven't checked out any of the other resources on the site, but there's probably some other stuff worth exploring to meet various RP needs.
3.) The RP Repository is another nice place to find 1x1 RP partners, but I find that the community there seems to skew a little younger. That said, I love the design/aesthetic of the site, and it's clearly well taken care of by the people running it.
Challenge #5
In your own space, create a list of at least three things you'd love to receive, a wishlist of sorts.
1.) Recs of either canons or fics involving complicated but mostly sweet platonic or queerplatonic relationships
2.) Recs of fics or other works that got you into one of your favorite fandoms
3.) Recs of fics that you think are just beautifully written
(Not looking for recs for video game fandoms though, sorry!)

* The Sentinel can be platonic, queerplatonic, or sex/romance but canon leaned toward the platonic end.
* Sherlock Holmes runs heavy to asexuality.

Date: 2026-01-10 09:51 pm (UTC)In terms of TV shows, check out The Mod Squad from the 60s. You can't get more found family. It's all about three kids (in their twenties, heh) who are each nicked for a minor "crime" and promptly drafted into becoming an undercover police unit! They investigate crimes where any typical type of police officer would stick out like a sore thumb.
The three main characters (Pete, Linc and Julie) are absolutely lovely and sweet people, madly protective of each other, and with their hearts and heads in the right place. Their boss, Captain Greer, is a very kind father figure and they adore him. (In one episode, he, along with Pete and Linc, are in a plane crash, and Linc performs emergency surgery on him with Pete as nurse!)
This show was considered controversial at the time and still hardly screens anywhere. Not just because the story lines utilise so many very 60s issues but because, scarily, so many of those issues are still not resolved - free speech, mental health, war (Vietnam in particular here), race, abortion, foster care, etc. The plots vary from light-hearted to very deep or even heavy, but the heart and soul of this show are the characters who always have each other's backs.
